WHO ARE WE? GATORS! WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO? WIN! GO GATORS!
With the excitement of our first “real” tournament in over 2 years, the U11 Gators were ready to battle hard.
Friday at 5pm was the U11 Gators first game of the Halton Classic 2022 tournament. The Gators struggled to put everything together. They battled back to make the game 12-6 but just couldn’t finish. Knowing they had 3 games the following day, the girls came to play hard on Saturday. They started off Saturday with two losses but the improvement in their game was something the coaches had noticed. They just needed all their hard work to fall into place. As they closed out their final game on Saturday, the girls fought hard and got the win. This confidence is what they needed to carry into Sunday.
On Sunday, the U11 Gators came out swinging and catching everything in their path! They were able to beat the Cambridge Coyotes to move on. The next game would prove to be a lot more work as they played one of the top seeded teams. With grit and determination they held off Halton until the last inning, but Halton was able to squeak out a victory by just one run. Playing for the Bronze medal, the U11 Gators again battled hard, losing by one run to end the tournament.
The U11 Gators placed 6th in the round robin portion of the tournament, but ended the entire tournament in 4th place. These girls showed heart, grit and determination this past weekend.
Tournament MVP's- Nora R., Nora R. & Claire H., Sophia J-O, and Elyse W.
The U11 Gators are looking forward to participating in the Saugeen Shores Battle of the Beach tournament June 10-11.
