Midget Gators 1 Team goes undefeated!
Submitted By GMSA on Wednesday, June 6, 2018
The Guelph Gators Midget 1 girls fastball team, sponsored by Mark Wilson's Used Cars, brought home their first tournament win this past weekend by going undefeated at the Humber Classic.

Round robin play saw 5 wins and a tie and placed the Gators as the top seed on the Tier 1 side of the tournament.  Wins over Milton, Ontario Yankees, Brampton Blazers - Alexander, UTM, Springfield and a tie with Quebec ensured a trip to the gold medal game and a rematch with a tough Brampton team.

The championship game was back and forth with the Blazers up by 3 heading into the bottom of the 7th.  A "one batter at a time" attitude with lots of grit and determination saw the Gators load the bases with no outs.  Enter 3rd year veteran Makayla Morrison and with one swing, a bases clearing triple to set up the nail-biting finish.  Brampton then intentionally loaded the bases and after a put out at home, 1st year Ashley Coverdale stepped in to the batter box and with a keen eye and her red cape waving in the wind, draws a game and tournament winning walk.

Over the weekend, game MVP’s went to Brooke Billings (2), Jess Johnston, Aspen McLellan, Brooklyn Delion, Makayla Morrison and Emily Harron.
Tournament All-Star team awards to Jess Johnston and Brooke Billings.
Tournament MVP to Kaleigh MacIntyre.

Congrats to the Midget girls on their success…!!!
