June 13, 2019 Update Diamonds Closed
Submitted By GMSA on Thursday, June 13, 2019
All sports fields and diamonds are closed until next scheduled inspection.
Saturated soil conditions are the most common reason for field closures and can be potentially dangerous for participants. Turf quickly deteriorates when used under such soil conditions and can result in extended periods of closure during the season.
We may not be able to provide groups with an alternate facility to compensate for field closure. So it is in everyone’s best interest to ensure that fields are not used if play will damage the turf.
Note: sports fields are inspected daily, Monday to Friday, and closure notice is made by 2 p.m.
If rain begins after 2 p.m., or on the weekend, please exercise due diligence and responsibility by not using the fields. Notify Facility Bookings before the end of the business day.
100% compliance is expected when fields are closed by the City. Groups who continue to play on closed or wet fields will be charged and invoiced at the full unsubsidized rate and will be held responsible for the cost of the field repairs and any resulting lost revenues; and further, can have their facility permits revoked. This article has been viewed 849 times.
