Motor City International Cup Showdown - U15 Weekend
Canada Day in the USA playing the game we love!
School's out for summer and the U15 Gators headed to the USA for a showdown they will never forget!
The U15 Gators flew out of the gates against the Cincy Slammers after a short rain delay on Canada Day in the USA. Rejuvenated by the return of injured players back into the lineup, the bats were hot to start off the tournament as they won their first game. However, their fellow Canadians, the LaSalle Athletics, had their own Canada Day plans and quickly ended the Gators 2nd game with tight defense and smoking bats. The Gators headed back to the hotel for a quick swim with a few lessons learned.
With the sun shining and spirits high on Saturday, the Gators took the field against the Intruders. It was a tough battle that could have gone either way, and the Intruders came out on top. The final game of pool play was against the Krash, who shut down the Gators bats and found all the holes in the field.
The Gators finished 5th in pool play, which earned them a bye to the semi-finals in the Gold Medal playoffs. Facing the D1 Nationals for the first time, a late game comeback came up short as the Gators fell 10-5 to end their weekend.
An amazing weekend of great softball and experiences for this young Gators team!
Next up, the Gators have a few weekends off and will compete against more Tier 1 teams at the Brampton Invitational tournament on July 23rd and 24th before preparing for the PWSA Tier 1 Grand Championships in Windsor in August.
